I will put all of my ideas for my magazine cover in this post, including the masthead, cover lines, and possible layouts/images. I will also reflect on my decisions as they evolve and show all the steps I took that work and do not.
Reflection:
This was a fun process, designing and self-discussion on various ideas that's full of potential to be something great is something I would personally do again but as of right now I'm writing this feeling tired after finishing half of this blog post (I stopped at the layout ideas), because I am currently doing my projects late at night, around 8 at night which tiring after a long day of activities. This again reminded me of time management and consistency, I have to manage my time better so that I could have time to sleep earlier and a time to fully enjoy dinner. As for now, I will be continuing this blog post on another day (tommorow of course).
After looking at the possible names twice I realized that GPT had given an idea similar to what I came up with, which is 'Culinary Canvas', the word culinary is more profound than the word cooking. Thus it makes me wonder if it is better to change the word cooking to culinary, but on second thought, my main target audience is young individuals, therefore the word cooking is best suited to propose a more friendly tone while also keeping it professional so that it reaches the older audiences, such as adults (parents).
Possible Coverlines:
- Flavors Fusion: Culinary Creativity Unleashed
- Best In Indonesia!
- Masterchef's Masterclass
- Your Cooking Guide Book!
- Be The Artist of Cooking
- All You Can Eat - All You Can Make
- Young And Old All For You
- No Age In Cooking
- Cook For Your Parents!
- From West To East
- Burgers To Fried Rice
- Burgers To Nasi Goreng!
I like the phrase "From West to East" because it shows the diversity of how my magazine will be, I would also be having the attention and reach of people all the way from the West to the East. Another way of implying that is by using the names of the meals that are traditionally part of the country or part of that world, like the coverline "Burgers to Nasi Goreng!" which implies the same thing as the earlier coverline (West to East) but better, that's in my opinion. Masterchef's Masterclass is an alliteration which I like as it sounds nice to read for the audience probably.
Layout Ideas:
Raw designs for the magazine cover
I used a layout my teacher provided and modified it with my own style. I was following the sketches that I made on the paper, so basically, I converted it digitally.
Here are a few resources I found while researching about the genre of my magazine, culinary magazine. I specifically need to know about what Content Pages look like, to achieve an overall idea for my own culinary magazine then.
I found this really professional-looking magazine:
